Auckland Last iveek from a trip tc America. The roads, he told an Auek ; land interviewer, were specially o, t ,. strutted for motor traffic, and thu hotels were exceptionally good. From rran Ffaneiseo to Los Angeles, a distance of over (500 miles, there were two main arterial roads constructed of asphalt. He had journeyed over both roads by motor car. and found it Insurious.* travelling. Without making any comparison between the natural"tourist resources of the Dominion and California, Caldwell expressed the opinion that New Zealand should advertise much more, y/idely in the Eastern States of America with a view to inducing wealthy Americans t» visit the Dominion's tourist, resorts. Large numbers of Americans had already seen all the Calit'orniau and Hawaiian attractions, and were looking for fresh scenes. He considered it. now an opportune time to place before the eastern Americans the advantages of the tourist resorts of New Zealand.
