PERSONAL.
Mr H. Horn (Mayor of Woodville) is on a short visit fo Otaki and district.
Mrs Sathorloy and Messrs Itoy and Ron Sutherley are at present on holiday in the Blenheim district.
Mr and Mrs Albert Bmitb have re turned to Otaki, after t>e - ling a. fort night’s holiday in the Lkotahuua <!is trict.
At the recent Royal Academy theory of music examinations, at Levin. Miss Esther Sawyer, of Otaki (pupil of Miss Kilsby). secured an excellent pass, in Division L, gaining 92 marks out of a possible 99.
Mr 11. Dunford, of the Levin Post Office staff, has been transferred to the accountants’ brunch of the G.P.0., Wellington, while Mr H. O. Whitehouse has re-joined the Levin telegraph stuff. Mr V red Coley, of Waihoauga, who underwent a~ very serious operation at the Wellington Hospital last week, is making satisfactory progress, anil although in a weak state, hopes to be sufficiently recovered to leave the institution within three weeks’ time.
Mr IV. Hugh us (manager of the Bank of Au-Jialasia at Levin for a number of years) leaves for Tcnwku dm »g this week. Mr and Mrs Hughes will be much missed from the district, especially in musical and Presbyterian Church circles.
The death occurred; tit Wellington a few days ago, of Mrs Swift, mother of Mr.- Creed, of Munakau, after a long 1 loess- Airs Swift resided at Munakau for some considerable time, and went to Wellington several months ago for an otitration and medical treatment. Many friends: in this district v.ijl regret her death. The funeral was held on Saturday.
Mr Thus. Coot.es, of Otaki, has received word from the Rev. Francis Corrvton, hon. chaplain or the Princess Christian Hospital (Weymouth), stating that Private “Tai” Coot.es. whose death was recorded in these column* some time ago, was buried in the Melcombe Regis cemetery (near Weymouth). The rev. gentleman states that "Tai” died on October 29th, and that hi?- death came as a great shock as only a few hours before he had heard that he was progressing very satisfactorily from his illness. He had proved a favourite with all, and hi* death was regretted. The Rev. Air Corrvton adds many cheering and comforting words for the parents of the deceased young man. and says he was buried with full military honours, a
company of the R.O.A. and members of the innhkilling taking part, on’Ail caiots' Day (November Ist).
