SPORTING.
W. Retter, who will ride at the Foxton meeting after an absence of nearly four years from the saddle, was thrown while exercising Luke a few days ago. Beyond a shaking no harm was dpne. Mr R. Webby’s Career, who will he remembered by local sports, has arrived back at OtakT. The journey from Hastings took sonic seventeen hours. Mr Penman has received from Pal-
merston a promising looking yearling. It was ruiled from the northern town and over-carried to Wellington, and then railed back to Otaki next day, arriving here at 7 p.m. It is stated that more is likely to be heard of the matter. Sports are. looking forward to the Wellington and Foxton meetings. Good sport is promised at both gatherings. W. Bowden, jun.. rode with great
success at the West Coast meetings, and scored several fine wins. For his success he was royally entertained and made the recipient of valuable presentations. Mt Bowden, sen., is still holi-day-making in. the Empire City, and seems content to take things easily for the time facing. Mr “Dug.” Webster will be represented at Foxtqn by Master Mouioa. Moutoa Ivanova, and Fisher.
