Tenders for cutting the grass seed on ,the Otaki public cemetery close on Thursday at noon. For the Levin Show on the 14th and 15th some very tempting offers in smart hats and costumes are made by Messrs Stiles and Matheson, Ltd., in this issue.
A technical investigation shows that the damage done to the collieries by the Germans has deprived France of 20,000,000 tons yearly—half of the national output. Machinery worth £60,000,000 was destroyed.
Six cows are entered for the butterfat competition to be held in connection with file Horowhenua A. and P. .Show. They are now on the Weraroa Central Development Farm, and are being milked by Mr G. P. Catlcy, of Levin. Most of the animals are milking well, and it is probable that the test* will be highly satisfactory.
The popularity of the Otaki seaside resort shows no signs of waning, indeed so keen is the demand for accommodation that hundreds of applications have had to be turned down. The buildings are still filled to overflowing, and will be for some weeks to eomc yct,-nt least. Many applications for accommodation for the Easier holidays are already coming in. The Ford car, claimed to be the most, reliable oifthc market, may be secured from Air J. C. Milnes. Levin, who is agent for this district. This wellknown car is very popular, and farmers in particular swear by it. It is cheap, yet good, while terms may be arranged. Mr Milnes stocks all accessories, docs repairs in first-class style, and guarantees all work done.
