CONCRETE FOOTPATHS.

To the Editor.

Sir, —Through your paper I would like to draw attention to the woeful waste of public money that is going on in the main street. I refer to the laying of concrete slabs on the footpath opposite the post office. With all duo respect to Mr Webby, who is really good—and the Board is fortunate in having him —at most jobs he is called upon to do, he is wasting time at the expense of the ratepayers in putting down those slabs. In the first place they should have been made reinforeed as they will not stand a load going over them, and in the second place, through no fault of his own, he has no levels to work to on the inside of the path. The little piece already done will be an everlasting disgrace to the Board and the tpwn. If the road committee are responsible they should inspect it at once and stop the work, or it will be the laughing-stock of everybody.—l am, etc., W- £• EDWARDS. Otaki, January 10th, 1920. '
