INCREASE IN MARRIAGES.
The number of marriages solemnised during the pest year is «• sure indicalion of the fact. I hat,/with the return of most of her men -from active service, Auckland is settling down once more to domestic life after the war years (says the “Herald”). The number for the year totals 1710, or titia more than tire figures registered, in 301 S, and 570 more than in I<Jl7. The marriage rale has /now not merely reverted to. but advanced on that, of pre-war years, the numbers for Inland 1913 averaging about 1400.
