The Railway Commissioners are considering a readjustment of freights, failing which over 1000 will be made idle. Owing to the arrival of inter state shipments the price of potatoes has dropped £2 per ton. There have been further torrential rains in the coastal and highland districts. Berlin, January 4. The “Deutcbc Zcitung” says that the Government, has received a semiofficial notification of those the Entente requires for trial for war crimes. The Government, has summoned several of these to come to Berlin forthwith. Mexico City, January 5. Scores are reported to have been killed as the result of a violent earthquake, which affected many parts of Mexico. The centre of the disturbances is believed to be near the volcano Orizaba. The State of Vera Cruz suffered the greatest damage. Wild scenes of panic were enacted here. Many natives rushed to the churches, where they prayed.
