It was the case of a great, baseline player breaking up the game of net players; yet it vvould be unfair to say that Johnston relied entirely upon his drive. His hack baud smash was formidable, and once at the net he and Tilden could finish off with a quite conclusive volley. After the game Brookes said the best team had won.
