WEDDING.
JONES —HUGHES. A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated at the Otaki Methodist Church yesterday afternoon, when two wellknown and popular young residents were joined in marriage. The contracting parties were: Mr Harold Jones, son of Mrs David Jones (late of New Hebrides and Fiji), and nephew to Mr Clinton Jones, of this town, and Miss Gwendolen Hughes, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Hughes, of Otuki. The bride looked extremely pretty in a white silk dress with pink belt and touches of pink on the shoulders to correspond. She wore tho orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. She was attended by her sister, Miss Hughes, as bridesmaid. Miss Hughes was nicely dressed in white striped vofle, with whito spotted net over palo blue to give the jumper effect so fashionable just now. She wore a hat to match and also carried a pretty bouquet. The bride was given away by her father, while Mr Bert Robinson, of Manakau (cousin of the bride) acted as best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. Daniel, and was witnessed by a’ large number of friends. Mrs Daniel presided at the organ and played the t ‘Wedding March." Afterwards a reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents. Tho bride has resided in Otaki all her life, and is held in high esteem by all, while the bridegroom has had a lengthy residence in Otaki. He is a returned soldier, and has filled the position of secretary of the Otaki Returned Soldiers’ Association with credit. Tho newly-wedded couple will have tho best wishes of a wide circle of friends. They will take up residence at Te Horo, where Mr Jones has secured Mr Diaper's business.
