BOWLING.
A bowling match for the pairs trophy which took somewhat extraordinary turns, was played on the Otaki green ou Saturday, when William* and Noble met and defeated Jackson and Safliorley, 27-20. The latter pair on the second head secured a six and thus had a fair lead, but their opponents on the next head scored four, and on the fifth head three, thus giving them a lead of oue. After a single by Jackson snd Satherley their opponents, scored tw« threes, followed shortly after by vnet-hex three and a four. Sathcrlcy and Jackson then added a four, but. by this, time, 14th head. Williams and Noble hud scored 24 to 14. However, they failed ! to score cm the next three heads, and ou : the 17th head the score was reduced to ; 2-1-17. On the 20th head the game was 1 all in favour of Williams aud Noble, who It'd by seven. Jackson and Sntherley, however, caused a flutter of excite-
ment by laying six, just missing evening the score by a short final bowl. A special meeting of the Otaki Bowling Club was held on Friday night, foe the purpose of considering the alteration of a rule, but- the point was raised that members responsible for the meeting were unfinancial and in consequence no business was transacted. The above, refers to the black-balling of members. and, unfortunately, lias caused a breach between certain members of the club, while it is feared that unless there is more unanimity between them a split will occur.
