MANAKAU.
A deputation—Mezura Clifford and Phillips representing the Manakau State School Committee, waited oa members of the Tennis Club on Monday night to ascertain if the court* coul'l be made playable, the deputation being anxioaa that something should be done. Mr Kofoed (contractor) pointed oat that the courts were not dry,_ but that was only a question of time. After t great deal of discussion it was decided to try the courts at once by playing OS them, and if playable to formally op?2 the season on Eozing Day. The deputation was thanked for its attendance. and for the interest displayed. Messrs Clifford and Phillips pointed out that the school grounds could be utilised for tennis by members of the club while the courts were under repair. The deputation teen withdrew and the eomtaittee proceeded with basinets, and Messrs Kofoed. and Cotter's offer to clear tbe court* as gratefully, received. (The work has since been do-? fend the two gentlemen are deserving c-f thank* for their labours.) It was decided that all cew members* of the c's'j be informed in writing that- they had been admitted.
