LEVIN FLOWER SHOW.
A TINE DISPLAY. j The Levin Horticultural Society is to be congratulated on tho success of its first show for some year.*, held on I Wednesday last. The entry was a ; fairly large one—just over 400 in all, j compared with about 450 for the Otaki j hbovs last, month —and the Century Hail ; was far too small to admit of the cxi Mbits being displayed to the best advantage. The cat bloom* were a prominent feature of the show, and the decorative section was a particularly pleasing one. Altogether it; was a pretty and successful show. The show was opened by Mr W. H. Field, member for the district. The attendance was a record for the society, and it is evident that there is a. revival of interest in horticulture in Levis. Mrs R. Sevan, of Manukas, won firth prizes for maiden hair fern, fuchsia.*, pansies, collection of sixteen varieties of cat bloom*, and bouquet of native Sower*, also second for rhododendron* and one rose. Mrs C. Nces, Masakuu, won first prizes for collection of 12 varieties cui blooms and gladioli, and second for delphiniums and collection of 10 cut blooms. Mrs Bramley (Manakati) scored Unit prizes for candytuft, stock, strawberries (extra fine), carrots, Cooper's lettuces, and peas, crests pus's, scones with butter, and h.c.'s for collection of vegetables and turnips. Miss May Wiodley, of Te Horo, was a successful exhibitor in the domestic section, winning tint prizes for madeirs eake, sponge cake, sponge roll, scone*, and seconds for poond cake, Victoria sandwich, and scones with, butter. Miss Wlndley atso~s-eeurcd first for embroidery ia silk. *
Mia Greatkead, of Otaki, won second prizes for darning and crocket hi wool. Mr Frank Penn, of Otaki, won three feta and one second in the four da«« for roses, and was also awarded prize for tie Champion rose of the show with a Gloiie de Chcdass Gttnoijgeau. Mr Pena also staged a display of wise" sixty vases of roses, for exhibition only; In the photographic section Mr Pena secured first for figure study. Mesdatses B. B. Gardener end Clark and Misses P.
