Butter: The supply falls short of the demand. Receipts of Danish are about, 10,000 casks per week. Last week 400 tons of Siberian arrived. Further arrivals are not expected from the same i source. Argentine shipments up to the i present arc very small and Australian reports are unfavourable. During the i last month the- weekly rations have been restricted to loz per head. Present prospects indicate that it is likely, to continue. Cheese: The present supplies meet the requirements. The British make is large on account of the line weather i and high retail prices. The milk eon- ! sumption being restricted, the surplus l is being made into cheese. Tho outI look for winter supplies is good. 1 Hemp: The manila market is quiet, | but firm. J grade during this week i in October - September shipment was quoted at £49; January-March skip- - meat at £4S. The market closed firm, i with more inquiry for October-Deeem-ber shipment at £SO and January--1 March shipment at £49 os. The Now i Zealand market is quiet with no altorai lion in prices. ) - ADDINGTON MARKET. - I Christchurch, November 5. r l There was a double market' at Adt J dington to-day, as no sale will be held . J during Carnival “Week. Yarding of all classes of stock was a good deal above . the average, but in spite of this the i demand was very keen in all fat stock , sections, and high prices reigned supreme as usual. There was an improvement in the size of the store sheep yarding, but the quality was inferior to that of the previous week’s sale and the demand was fairly brisk and late rates were fully maintained. Two-tooth ewes and lambs (all counted) 21s 4d to 225, s.m. ewes and lambs (all counted) JSs to 24s 9d, 4 and (i-tooth wethers 33s to 44s 9d, (j and 8-tooth wethers 36s 6d lo 39s 6d, ewe hoggets 25s Gd to 40s, shorn . 21s 9d, m.s. hoggets 27s 6d, ; wether hoggets 22s 6d to 33s 4d. Fat Lambs. against 152 last week. The quality was fair and values went to 39s for best lambs. Fa t Sheep.*—There was a bigger yarding than for a long time. Prices were firm all through for good stock. Extra | prime wethers to S7s Gd, prime 60s to I 70s, medium 4Ss to DOs, lighter 30a to f 45s 3d, extra i>rimc ewes 70s Gd, prime 1 J 52s to 61s, medium 42s to 50s, lighter 1 130 s 3d to 40s, prime hoggets 90s, lighter j 33s lOd. • Fat Cattle.—A yarding of 35S head: was not nearly enough for tho requirements of the whole fortnight, and in • consequence the demand was very keen and bidding brisk for all reasonablygood stock. Extra prime steers to £42 ss, prime £2l 10s to £36 10s, ordinary £ll 5s to £l9, extra prime heifers to £37 ss, prime £l7 to £25 10s, ordinary £9 to £l6, extra prime cows tt> £3B, prime £ls to £2O, ordinary £9 10s to £l4 10s. Store Cattle. —The yarding was easily the biggest since autumn, and all classes were penned, and though the general quality was mediocre there were somo fair station lines of steers, a proportion being Hereford crosses. The demand was somewhat affected by the large entry. Three-year-old steers to £l6 12s 6d, 21-year to 3-year-old steers to £l2 ss, 21-year steers £9 15s, 18-2 months to 2-year cattcl (mixed sex) £7, yearlings £2 17s Gd to £5, cows to £9 10s. Dairy Cows.—The yarding was rather larger than necessary to cope with the demand. Springers (second and third calves) to £l9 10s, heifers £lO, COW 3 in milk £6 to £ls. Yealers. —A large number was penned. Runners to £lO, good vealers £4. to £5 ss, fair vealers 45s to 523 Bd, small and inferior 6s to 425.Pigs.—There was a large entry Of fat pigs and a fair demand. Extra heavy fcaconers £8 12s 6d, heavy baconers £6 to £7, medium £5 to £5 17s 6d (equal to lOd per lb), heavy porkers 85s to 90s, medium 63s to 75s (equal to 19Jd to lid per lb), choppers to £l2. There was a good entry in the store pig section. and best stores realised 75a to 90s, medium 55s to 655, smaller 40s to 525,weaners 16s to 40s. ‘"
