CONSUMPTIVE SOLDIERS.

“Is it the intention of the Government to erect for returned soldiers suffering from consumption shelters at sanatoria close to their homes, and is it the intention to remove the remaining soldiers from Te Waikato Hospital.'” asked Mr W. H. Field (Otaki) of the Minister for Defence.

.Sir James Allen replied that the Defence Department was providing shelters for permanent tubercular cases at the men’s own homes, where so desired. It was also providing shelters .for permanent cases, by arrangement with the hospital board, at the hospital nearest to each man’s home. With regard to the patients at Te Waikato, lie thought that they had all been removed to the Waipukurau (sanatorium. Mr Field: There are still half a dozen there.

Sir James Allen said that he would see that they v ere removed as soon as possible.
