It is probable that Mr N. 3. Bennington, of Silverstreain, will contest the Otaki scat. As he is well known in the Hutt district, as well as Levin, where for some time he was on the staff of the "Chronicle,""he should receive a fair share of support. ; Major Samuel, now a resident of Kotorua, is also favourably inclined to (contest the seat, and probably will be a candidate. Major Samuel recently decided to stand for Botorua, but it is 'understood he considers the Kotorua •district' too difficult for electioneering * JSpurposcs
