CHURCH BAZAARS AND GAMBLING.

To the Editor. Sir.—At the present time raffles (promoted by the church) are in the air, but this fact does not surprise me, nor have I any strong objection thereto. But I do object to an article worth 5s being raffled for, perhaps. £." or £4. I ask. Is this honest, is it a fair deal? I say it is absolute robbery, and very unjust. If an article was raffled for ■double its price it would not be quite so bad, but to go beyond this is beyond all reason or honesty. And for a church to stoop to the practice—it's bcj'ond comprehension. One might expect something of the sort from a gambling saloon —on* of the lowest type, but not from a church.—Yours, -'NUFF SED.
