SPORTING.
A good story is being told, and it ha 3 the merit of .being true (.says a Wanganui writer) that a well-known hunter, an aged gelding, was recently carried on the railway to compete at a race meeting, having been consigned through as a "brood mare." The trainer who worked this trick on the railway authorities must have smiled at having his horse carried a long journey whilo other racehorses had to walk owing to the embargo.
