OTAKI METHODIST CHURCH
QUARTERLY meeting.
The quarterly meeting of officers of the Otaki Methodist circuit was held at To Horo on Wednesday night last, when the Bov. H. Daniel presided over •a small attendance of officers. The membership roll was reported to bo tho samo as for tho previous quarter. The meeting passed a very hearty .vote of thanks to Mr F. Cordukcs for tho gift of a horse for circuit use. It was reported that only £l3 bad been collected towards the recent purchase of gig and harness, several subscription lists not being in, and it was decided to make a fresh appeal for assistanco for this special fund. The balance-sheet showed a deficit on the quarter’s working, partly owing to reduced Home Mission grant, but it was reported there was a likelihood of tho decreased grant being made up by the Home Mission Executive. The Sunday School reports wore of a satisfactory nature. -Mr Cr. W. Kirk (missionary agent) furnished a detailed report of missionary collections and activities during the past quarter. The circuit had i’dised £43 Os 4d for Foreign Missions during the year. The, past quarter’s returns for missions were not yet complete. The meeting resolved to ask for a Homo Mission grant of £7O for next year. ' Messrs A. E. Anderson and Frank Penn were appointed representatives to District Synod, to be held next month, with Messrs ’ Howard Andrew and Harold Cockrell as substitutes. It was decided to hold the evening services at Te Horo at 7.30 p.m. during the summer months, and also to consult the Manakau and Otaki congregations re the advisability of doing likewise. The next meoting was fixed for the second Wednesday in January, 1920, at Otaki.
