At the quarterly meeting of officers of the Otaki Methodist circuit, held at Te Hero on Wednesday night, a usast--fflbtt* toviiatlon was extended to the Bov. Vt. G. Slide, M.A., to remain to charge of the circuit for enother ye*r.
The funeral of the late Miss Taipua, ivho died last, will take plaeo to-morrow. The Hon. Heu Heu, of tho Legislative Council, has signiiied •his intention of being-present.
Constable Satherley, who has been ill 'with a severe attach of bronchitis, hopes to resume duties on Monday. If so, Constable Greggan, who has been relieving, will return to Levin.
Mr Charles Hill, son.,, a much-re-spected and very figure in ■’Wellington, particularly among bowlers, died at his residence, Island Bay, nt 9.35 o’clock last night, aged 87 'years.
The friends of Mr Ernest Brown, brother to Mr Byron Brown, who recently commenced in business in Wellington, will regret to learn that he has had a complete collapse, and will liar eto take a lengthy rest.
A wedding of interest took place at Jst. Mary’s Church, Christchurch, on Tuesday, when Miss Otlilio Seddon Bean, of the Rev. Canon and Mrs Bean, of St. Mary s, Addington, and granddaughter of’ the Into Bight Hon. B. J. Seddon, was married to Captain John D. McArthur, son (of Mr and Mrs J. McArthur, of Lums'den Hills, Southland. The Bishop of Christchurch, Bight Bcv. Julius, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of lavender tissue, shot with silver, with beaded georgette to match. An embroidered tulle veil was arranged- as a mob cap, and fastened with a tiny wreath of heather. She carried a sheaf bf lilies. The bride whs attended by her sister, Miss Molly Bean, and the Misses Isabel and Annie McArthur '(sisters of the bridegroom). The first wore pink, and tkc two last white erepo-de-chine frocks, with butterfly bows of pink tulle, and black bats, with ’ pale pink ostrich feather ruches, and they carried bouquets to match. Little 'Joan and Mary Gilmer (daughters of Mrs Knox Gilmer, of Wellington, and cousins of the bride) were flower grls, , and scattered petals in front of the bridal couple as they left the church. Captain T. E. Y. Seddon was best man, and like tke bridegroom was in uniform.
