GOLF.
The final round of the local got championship played last week be tween P. Simcox and Hopkins resultec in an easy win for the former. Simoor played a strong, steady game, perhaps one of the best he has yet produced and finding Hopkins weak with his irons soon established a geod lead, which he gradually increased, finally winning by eleven up. The mixed foursomes which wind up the golf season in Otaki wore shorn of their usual interest this season because various members not only did not turn up at the links, but did not even take the trouble to advise the secretary of their intention not to play. A close contest, however, resulted between Mrs D’Ath, with Mr P. Simcox for a partner, and Mrs Hodgson playing with Mr W. Simcox. The former ppir just won one down to bogey, the latter pair being two down. Mrs and Mr Griffiths’ departure will be a great loss to the Otaki Golf Club, and they both will be very hard to replace. Mrs Griffiths has always been most helpful and generous to the club, and the ladies’ committee will miss licr extremely next season. Mr Griffiths as hon. treasurer has done first-class work, but members will chiefly miss his presence on the links, and will watch his future golliing progress with interest
