Among the soldiers due back in this district in the course of the nest day or so are Captain P. H. Harper (Levin), Lieut. J. J- Davison, Private Will Taylor and B. W. Fleming (Otaki).

Mr and Mrs Rockel and family, who have been esteemed residents of tho Otaki district for some years, are leaving for Levin, where they havo secured a farm.

A Native girl, namod Api to Hemara, died at the Otaki Sanatorium on Saturday last, after a lengthy illness. Deceased, who was 16 years of age, was a niece of Mr Matiu to Hemara, of Otaki, and came here from the South Island.

The many friends of Miss' Marjorio Booth, who has been an inmate of Miss Lucas' private hospital, Wellington, for the past month, will bo pleased to learn that she was sufficiently recovered to return to her home at Otaki last week.

Mr J. W. Hodgson, postmaster at Otaki, leaves on Wednesday on furlough. After visiting Waihi ho will travel furthor north, and spend much of his time in the Auckland district. Mr Hodgson has not had a holiday for some years, and his leave is well deserved. Mr Hodgson’s plaeo at Otaki will be taken by Mr Bean, of Wellington. Mrs Hodgson also leaves for tho north this week, and will visit Wanganui.
