MANAKAU.

The Y.M.C.A. held its meeting on Friday "night,, in tlic Town Hall meeting room, when, despite bad weather, there jas a good attendance, Mr Les. Atkins presiding.
The Rev. G. F. Petrie, M.A., gave a lecture, entitled “Our Attitude Towards Germany.” The lecturer treated a difficult and delicate subject excellently. Ho dwelt largely on the Christian’s attitude towards forgiveness, but said that before forgiveness was granted repentance was necessary, and 1 Germany had not shown a sign of repcntanco. Mr Petrie was heartily congratulated on tho ablo manner in which he had dealt with his important subject, and cordially thanked for his lecture. A discussion followed, being shared by Messrs Gilbert, C'amcron, Trcvethick and the chairman.
Supper was provided, as usual, by the ladies, and much enjoyed.
Mr and Mrs Barlow, of Pahiatua. are on a visit to Hanakau—the guests of Mr and Mrs Clifford. Miss Sutherland, who has been staying with Mr and Mrs Les Staples, returnod to Christchurch on Saturday last.
