. '' MANAKAU BRANCH. ~. A meeting of the above'branch was held in the Parish Hall on' September 11th. Mr Burn ell presided over a poorly-attended meeting. Mr Swainson was appointed delegate to attend the next meeting of the executive, to be held in Levin on September 27th. It was decided in the future to hold tho meetings on the second Thursday in the month, and during the summer months at 7.30<p.m. Messrs W. H. Little and R. Eager, returned soldiers, were accepted as new members, as also was Mr Peter King. Mr A. McKenzie, one of the vicepresidents, resigned on account of his having taken up land in the Sounds. The resignation was accepted with regret. A remit to the executive to improve tho breed of cattle was passed. Two more donations to the sinking fund were handed it.
Following on a notice in the "Agricultural Journal" re testing of soils for liming, it was decided to. ask Mr Deem, of Wanganui, to pay a visit to this district. Any members wishing to have a sample of soil taken are requested to hand in their names without delay.
