SPORTING.
Mr Nat. Williams was unable to accept Waimatoa and Hush-a-bye for -the Otaki meeting, owing to an unfortunate accident. Hush-a-bye, with human instincts, unfastened a latch on her stable door, rushed out, and before anyone could prevent a mishap, the two horses kicked each other, with the result that both were injured. It will be some time before the pair can resume work. The accident was most unfortunate, and it was expected that Waimato* especially would run well at the meeting. Considering the railway restrictions the acceptances for the Otaki meeting, to bo held on Saturday and Monday next, are .satisfactory, and good-racing may be expected. Fields are not large, | but -several line performers of the turf ' will be in evidence. Six have accepted for the big money, Kilrush being the only one to drop out. The Steeplechase should be an interesting event from a local punters' point: of view, as the majority of: the horses are locally trained.
