THE BULB SHOW.
AT OTAKI ON WEDNESDAY. ENTRIES CLOSE MID-DAY TUESDAY. We arc glad to hear that the prospects of the Otaki Bulb Society’s second Bulb Show, to be held at Otaki on Wednesday next, are most reassuring. Though the season has not been a particularly good one for bulbs, daffodils are rapidly coming into favour in this district, and many beautiful blooms are now grown by district enthusiasts, who will doubtless take advantage of this opportunity. of exhibiting their blooms. Several of the leading growers of Lower Hutt (including the specialists, Messrs T. Waugh, Boole, and Wcstbury) are competing in the open sections, while other visitors are expected. We fully expect to see a record entry . and 'a particularly beautiful display on , Wednesday. i
Wo would specially remind intending exhibitors that entries positively close at noon to-morrow (Tuesday) at the auction mart. Any entries received later cannot bo accepted, as the committee has decided hot to accept any late entries.
The prize list is a liberal one, and should appeal to all. Special attention is called to the classes for children and cottage gardeners, for which special prizes arc provided. These classes should encourage the children to take an interest in flowers, and also encourage small growers to exhibit. The Show will open on Wednesday from 2 to 5.30 p.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m. Several stalls will be provided at the hall, while refreshments will be obtainable both in the afternoon ' and evening. Mrs Hodgson, who is in charge of the refreshment rooms, would be glad to receive donations of cakes, etc.
