Mr £. Lahchester, who recently-re-turned to Otaki after seeing active service, has secured a poultry farm and orchard at Taradale, near Napier, and will take up his duties there at an early date. . *■ .
Miss Greig, assistant teacher at the Manakau school, left to-day for Tokoinaru, where she has received an appointment. Tho Manakau headmaster (Mr Mickle) is thus handicapped through having both assistants away. Miss Windley removing to Tc Horo last week.
Mr and Mrs J. A. Austin, for many years a highly esteemed resident of Waikanae, have" left the district, and arc "now residing temporarily at Palmerston North, their future movements being uncertain. Mr Austin will bo very mucli-missed from the district, he being an energetic and able worker in many good objects, aiid a specially faithful helper of the Anglican Church. Prior to their leaving Waikanao Mr* Austin was entertained at Waikanae, and made the recipient of a suitable presentation, while Mr Austin was tendered a social evening ai Paraparaunni by the church people of the district, and presented with a well-filled wallet, as a mark of appreciation, Soveral highly complimentary speeches were made, and Mr and Mrs Austin were given a hcaTty send-off.
