PARAPARAUMU NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The committeo responsible for the scries of weekly dances held at Pnraparaumu arranged for a "hard-up social" on Friday evening last. There was a splendid attendance including

several visitors from Waikanae, almost everybody being clothed in attire of various stages of "hard-upness." Mrs W. Capper was awarded the lady's prize for being the most hard-up lady, and Mr W. Shaw, Waikanae, won the gent's prize. Mr Birch provided very good music for the dances, and acceptable extras were played by Mrs E. Weggery, A. Harris and D. Brazier. A short-night dance will be held on Saturday next.

Mrs W. Wise, of Paraparauniu, is, I regret to say, very ill indeed, and has been ordered a complete rest.
