Witchcll was voted to the chair. Mr Broadway, in a capital paper, dealt comprehensively .with the preparation of the ground, manuring, selection of seeds, cultivation, watering, etc., in order to secure the best results. He also referred to the principal vegetables seriatim, giving cultural hints on each. Mr Broadway stressed the importance of securing first-class pedigree seeds to start with, giving his reasons for this advice. He also exhibited a few specimens of onions, seed potatoes, tree tomatoes, etc. In conclusion, he appealed to all gardeners to support the local Horticultural Society and exhibit at the local shows.

A large number of questions were asked Mr Broadway by those present, who showed keen interest in the subject under discussion. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker for his valuable paper.
