INFLUENZA.

SLIGHT INCREASE IN WELLINGTON..

During the week ending August 25th there were 32 cases of influenza reported in the Wellington health district, compared with 23 in the previous week. Threo were of the pneumonic type of influenza, one was reported as a severe case, the rest being classed as mild.

Discussing the increase in the number of influenza cases, Dr. Watt, district health officer, remarked that as the population of the Wellington health district was about 100,000, the fact that 32 cases of influenza were reported in one week should not be regarded with undue alarm. The influenza being notified was of a comparatively mild nature, but nevertheless the situation was being watched very closely.
