SOCIAL AND PRESENTATION.

A meeting of the committee interested in the social and presentation to be accorded Mr and Mrs 11. Larkin on Wednesday next was held in the Druids’ Hall on Friday night. Present: Messrs H. Nicolson (in the chair), L. Kilmistcr, Geo. Tattcrsall, Ralph Thomson, T. Wells, R. W. Glcntworth, W. Baker, and J. R. Bills (secretary). Tho various canvassers handed in their lists, and on being totalled it was ascertained that the public had given liberally. If was decided, however, not to close the lists, but to receive subscriptions up to the last minute. The canvassers ivore warmly commended for tlicir good work, and were accorded a hearty vote of appreciation. The form of presentation was decided on. and Mr Bills was instructed to secure same.

It was reported that tho committee appointed to secure musical items had the programme in hand. It was decided that flic number of items to be secured be limited to ten; to secure the services of Miss Rikihnna for the dance music, and to appoint Mr Kilmistcr as M.C.

It was stated that the refreshment committee—Mcsdames Bills, Kilmistcr, and Hodgson—were doing good work, and the committee felt it could not do better than leave this part of the programme entirely in their hands.

Messrs Bills and Wells were appointed doorkeepers, while it was agred that Mr Byron Brown make the presentation, and that he be supported by representatives of the Bowling Club and the Literary and Debating Society, which have agreed to a joint presentation.

It teas reported that the floor committee would use their best endeavours to do their work thoroughly, and members of the committee voluntarily agreed to assist. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Bills for his secretarial duties. After a deal of routine business the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
