OBITUARY.

“ > MR M. OHLSON.

Many residents of the district will hear with regret of the death of Mr Marcus (Mark) Ohlson, of Manakau, which occurred at the Otaki Hospital last night, after a short illness, death being due to influenza, of the pneumonic type. Mr Ohlson was in his cusHornary good health until Wednesday last, when ho developed symptoms of influenza. However, nothing serious was anticipated, and the doctor was net called in until the end of the week, when pneumonia had developed. The patient was removed to the Otaki Hospital on Monday, but, despite every possible attention, died last night. - Mr Ohlson, who was 50 years of age, was a particularly robust, healthy man, who had never known a day’s serious illneos in his life. Ho was born in the Marlborough district, and lived there practically all his life, until recent years, at Grovctown, near Blenheim, f r e m whence he removed to Manakau some six yours ago. Deceased uas an upright, hard-working, good-living man of sterling qualities, hold in very high regard by all who knew him, and during his stay in this district he niado many close friends. He leaves a u ife and eight children—seven daughters and one son. Two of his daughters arc married—Mesdames Corder and Gill, both of Marlborough—while the son (Ophir) resides in Wellington, and the other daughters arc: Christina, Nellie, Alice, Pearl and Hazel, the youngest being eight years of age. Deceased’s parents are both dead, but he leaves one brother, Charles, who resided with him.' Mr W. H. Ransom and Mesdames W. Chandler and Tuke (all of Otaki) arc brother and sisters to Mrs Ohlson. Deep sympathy is felt for the bereaved family and relatives. The funeral takes place to-morrow afternoon, leaving Mrs Tuke’s residence at 2 p.m. for the Otaki cemetery.
