Nurse Alcllardie, well-known in j Otaki, has resigned from tho staff of . the Greytown hospital. Chief Judge Jackson Palmer, of the j Native Land Court, died on Wednest day morning in Wellington from 1 lethargic encephalitis. 3 Lieutenant J. J. Davison, of Otaki, i has cabled stating that he was leaving • England by llie Adolph-Woerman «n August 3 oth, and therefore should arrive home towards the end of Scptetu- / her. Flight-Lieutenants C. AVildsntith (M.AI.) and Weston Barber, both of 'IV Horo, have been in Sydney, on route home to New Zealand, for some time. They expected to leave Sydney yesterday by the Essex, and should reach Wellington on Wednesday next. j Mr 18. J. Air Gilbert, will probably .leave by the next boat for Australia, and will be away on “the other side” for about three months. i Air E. J. Knight and family will leave Altmakau early next week, having disposed of their .’Jan a Iran farm pro perty. They will reside at Paekaknriki for a time, their future movements being as yet uncertain. During the recent epidemic Afr Knight did yeoman service, and in many ways proved himself a valuable citizen. Air and Air* Knight will be specially missed from the Methodist Church, in which they did useful work. Air E. Ingram, who has been lineeman in charge of the Otaki district f«r some time, ha# been transferred t* lift worn, and has already left to tak* up his duties. His place will bo filled temporarily by hi* "brother, Air Ingram, of Levin, after which Mr Urkle, of Ohaknne, will fake control. Air Ingram, who has been a prominent hockey player, carries with him the best wishes of ike community. There pawed away in Tedding recently in her 80th year Sirs H. A. Monckton, widow of the late Dr. F. A. Monekfon. formerly provincial nurgaon of Southland, and a Crimean vefuran, but later of Fcilding. who predeceased her seven years ago. -The late Mr* Monckton spent most of her life in New Zealand, having eorno from Irej land to Auckland with her parents in the early fifties. She and her husband enjoyed much of the pioneer life of this country. She wa* widely known, and her kindness endeared her to her many friend*.
