The Fox ton Presbyterian Church has i unanimously made a call to the Rev. J Thos. Hulhduy, of Lansdowne, Master* !ton, to succeed .Rev. Bredin at Foxton. Messrs Kirkcr and Wnrnock have taken up their positions as manager and first assistant at the Te Horo Coop.- Laity Co.’s cheese factory at. Te Horo. Both gentlemen hail from Gore, Otago. Mr Mason, the newly-appointed j j manager of the To Horo Co-op. .Supply I Stores, has taken over the management j ° r this well-known business at To j Iloro. Mr Mason was for soma considerable time connected with the well-known firm of Aulsebrook’s. The death occurred at Te Horo last j evening of Mrs Pratt ley, who had boon ailing some time, and whose death was, not unexpected. Deceased had Resided at Te Horo for about two years, and her death is much regretted. fslie leaves a husband and an adopted daughter, with whom much sympathy is , expressed. Among those awarded the Military. Cross in the King’s Birthday list of ’ honours, recently announced, is Lieut. } W. G. Lyons, late of Otaki, son of Mrs \G. Lyons, of Palmerston North. Lieut. .Lyons’ many friends in this district will be delighted to hear of his distinction. At Saturday’s meeting of the Horowbenua County Council the Chairman ’ (XT. Mock) welcomed Or. F. Coley as a | member, and in doing so referred to' I the many changes of recent date at the Council table, only himself and Cr. Broadbelt exceeding a term of five years. Ho also referred to the work of the Council, which, lie considered, had done well against tremendous odds. After Cr. Ryder had added a few words iof welcome, Cr. Coley thanked the ; Council and stated ho would do his ‘ best, | At the Horowhecua County Council meeting on Saturday the Chairman, | who was warmly supported by other 1 councillors, made eulogistic reference to ex-Councilior Cat Icy. who had roi signed his seat. Ihe opinion was exs pressed that Cr. Catiey had proved one of the best members the Council . had ever possessed—always straight, conscientious, and a good worker. On the motion of Cr.-. Monk and Ryder a i resolution was passed placing on record the Council’s hearty appreciation of Cr. Catiey’:: untiring and conscientious services, and regretting that his energy and experience were lost to the Cotra- • cii, for the time being, through his removal from Te Horo to Levin, i
