FOOTBALL.
A meeting of the Otaki Junior Football Club was held last night, when it was decided to take part iu tht Peace Celebrations on Saturday, and to play a match with members of the Silver Band on Monday. It was agreed to hold a concert and dance early, in August, and to hold ‘.‘gym” practices every Tuesday and Friday night. Any member missing two nights in succession will forfeit his right to bo picked in a match. It was reported that up jto the present no donations had been received from officers elected, and a hope was expressed that assistance would be forthcoming so as to enable the “colts” to keep the good old game jef “toe-ball” going- The Club expressed its appreciation of Mr W. F. Edwards’ kindness, in so generously presented a gold medal for the most improved player this season. The following will represent the Otaki Juniors v. the Silver Band on Monday, play to commence at 10.30 Sl.m.X W. Bowden, P. Rikihana, P. Taipua, C. Enoka, R. Tabiwi, W. Baker, J. TTiiku, A. Wallace, D. Tuna, P. Baker, H. Knox, M. Gordon, W. Nieholls, J- Kiriona, W. Retter, M. Baker, M. Murray, M. Giddens. It is hoped players will appear in uniform Colours, and not appear as a team of aondescripts as in the match against Levin. The Natives are to be asked to perform a haka previous to the match.
To mark the signing of peace and tho feewriees of footballers in the great war, £he management committee of the Canierbuly Rugby Union decided last night id remove the disqualifications on all its players who arc at present under Suspension. This action is, of course, subject to the decision of the New Zealand Union, to which the motion will go as a recommendation.
