PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
NO SPECIAL TRAINS,
' ~, Wellington,-July 11. |-The Government has decided that no special trains will run. on Peace celebration day.-;.' Xo goods will be carried on .Saturday, however, and the trains wii be strengthened, and so it will be ; possible to carry more passengers. The Minister for Internal Affairs states that a number of districts have i applied for permission to hold consolij dated peace celebrations, and the Government has approved the arrangement. Cabinet has definitely decided not to • encourage illuminations requiring the [ use of coal, and if local authorities perPsist in having illuminations in opposij lion to the direction of the Government the entire cost of the illuminations must , be paid by.'th? district involved.
