Mr J. Maekie left to-day for Palmerston North, where he will spend a holiday.
Mrs Davies, of Wanganui, ia on a visit to Otaki, staying with her sister (Mrs L. St. George). Mr and Mrs C. T. Bussell (erstwhile residents of Otaki) and Miss Tweedie, all of Hastings, have been on a brief visit to Otaki.
Mrs Herbert Bright, who has been in indifferent health of late, yesterday entered the Otaki Hospital for the" purpose of an operation.
! The engagement is announced of Mr ■ Clutha Mackenzie, fifth ’ son of Sir ' Thomas Mackenzie, High Commissioner ! for New Zealand, and Lady'Mackenzie, to Miss Doris Sawyer, of land.
Mr A. E. Minton, who has been ou a visit to Rotorua, returned to his home at Otaki yesterday, benefitted by the trip. While at Taumaruuui he was among thoso who were obliged to undergo hardship on account of the lack of accommodation.
