WAIHOANGA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The usual fornightly cuclirc party in aid of the piano fund was held in ibc school last Friday evening, and again keen interest was evinced. Play was of a very high order right through, and after a close finish the prizes were awarded as follows:—First ladies’, Mrs Butt (a pair of scissors); first gent’s. Mr Beauchamp (manicure set); lady’s booby, Miss Edincd (sponge cake); gent’s booby, Mr V. Jepson (a parcel of fruit). Dancing was indulged in till a late hour, and everybody went home feeling well pleased with themselves. These parties, besides benefiting the fund referred to, also tend to j promote friendship and goodwill j among the neighbours. A "tin baud’’ is being formed in i Waitioanga, and the rendition of specially written music is being eagerly awaited by the residents —particu- , larly those contemplating matrimony. : A wedding of considerable interest j to Waihoanga folk took, place in Pal- ' merston North on Tuesday, July Ist, the contracting parties being Mr Percy Stevens, of this locality, and Miss Bene Smith, of Palmerston.. Both these voung people, being extremely musical, "will appreciate the maiden efforts of the newly-formed band. Owing to the Tough weather no work has been done on the Hector track this week.
