OTAKI PROGRESS.
A NEW BUSINESS. In to-day’s issue appears a notice intimating that a regular series of auction sales will he conducted in Otaki in the near future. This is due to the enterprise of Mr G. Anderson, of Otaki Railway, who proposes to add auctioneering to his land and estate business. It will be noticed that it is proposed to hold sales of vegetables, fruit and other produce as well as the risual goods • which generally pass through 1 auction rooms. This will afford local housewives an opportunity of purchasing their weekly requirements of these very necessary household commodities at a reasonable price, and at the same time , give local growers a fair return ! for their labours. There can be little doubt that regular auction sales have long been wanted in the district, and it is probable that Saturdays, on which day sales are to be chiefly held, will be more lively in Otaki in the future than in the past. Wo await further details of this new enterprise, which will, wo understand, be forthcoming shortly.
