AMUSEMENTS.
THE JOYMAKERS. , The English Company of Joymakers, j who were to appear here to-night, have been obliged to cancel their entertainj ment for the time bcingfi owing to j colds, etc., being prevalent with mem- ! bers of the company. ! “THE COUNTESS CHARMING.” I I Socially ostracised, because he had umintentianally offended a leader of society, with whose daughter ho is in love, Saunders Julian swears “re- ; venge” on the would-bo social mentors, and to this end he poses as a Russian countess. As the countess he rents & largo house near the Vandergrifts, loaders of society, and not far from the country club. The Countess Charming is amused at the effusive way in which she is re-admitted to the select circle, and finds herself quite the rage. Once fairly established, Julian proceeds to make good a promise to Betty, his sweetheart, to collect a large sum for the Red Cross. He steals one man’s wallet, another’s valuable scarf-pin, and from Mrs Vandcrgrift herself he takes a priceless necklace of pearls. Also, as the countess he becomes friendly With Betty, and proceeds to sing tho jkaises of Julian Saunders so highly that Betty becomes jealous and afraid .that after all perhaps Julian doesn ’t care for her. This fine picture will be shown at the theatre to-morrow night.
