RIKIORANGI NOTES.

(Front an Occasional Correspondent.)

A wedding of considerable interest ! was celebrated here #n the 4th lust., the occasion being the marriage of Miss Agnes (Daisy) Greig, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Greig, one of the early settlers of this district, to Mr Victor Hughes, who has recently returned from the front. The ceremony took place at Gt. Luke’s Church, and was performed by Rev. Mr Kendrick. The brixle was 5 given away by her father, and ' was attended by the Misses Cissy and Jessie Greig (sisters) and Miss Lorna Greig (cousin of the bride). Mr Barker, also a returned soldier, acted as best man. The church was most' beautifully decorated, this being done by- some of the girl friends ,Wf the bride. After the ceremony Mr I and Mrs Greig entertained the guests • in the old schoolroom, where fully 100 I friends sat down to a repast of the first-class order. Later in the evening Mr and Mrs Hughes left for Waikaiiae.

Tin; presents received were numerous and costly, including, also a number of cheques.-show-ing the high esteem in which the couple were held. Visitors were present from various parts of the district, including Wellington. Bahautnnui. I’araparaumu, Otaki. etc. One of the latest of our boys to return is Corporal George Stubbings, who arrived home by the troopship I’nkeha. Private A. H. Clifton also arrived bv Ihe s.s. Xorrmnnberlaiul. Another who is expected shortly is Private Sid. .Monk, who is due to arrive on tin; 23rd j ust. This will be the last of our lads vo return, the . remainder having gone • ‘ West.' ’
