WEDDING BELL'S.
MURRAY—BUTT. A wedding of interest to residents of the Horowhenua and AVairarapa districts, was- solemnised at St. Mary’s Church, Levin, on Wednesday, by the Rev. Blackburn, when a popular young couple were united in holy bonds of wedlock. The parties were Miss Lesley Butt, youngest, daughter of Mr R. Butt, who has been a resident of Levin for the past twenty-five years, and Mr Harvey Murray, only son of Mrs Murray, of Levin, and the late ex-Councillor A. Murray, wdio for many years was a leading resident of .the Wairarapa. The bride was very nicely attired' in a dress of Oriental satin, hand-embroidered, with veil and orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums with' white streamers. She was
attended by Miss Jean Murray (sister of the bridegroom), who was stylishly dressed in pink crepo-de-elienc. Her bouquet was composed of pink chrysanthemums with blue streamers. Two little flower-girls, Miss Audrey Noble and Miss Gladys . Butt (nieces of the bride) were also in attendance, and were prettily attired in white dresses with heliotrope ribbons, and carried baskets of violets with heliotrope streamers. Mr Walter Horribin, who, like the bridegroom, is a returned soldier, acted in the capacity of best mas.The service teas fully choral, and was attended by quite a number of relatives and friends. The bridegroom’s gift to
.the bride was a fine gold expanding wristlet watch, while the bridesmaids and flower-girls each received a pretty brooch. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was also a valuable one. The young couple, who left by car for Na-
pier, where the honeymoon is to bo I spent, were the recipients of* - many valuable presents. The bride’s travelling dross was of grey tailored material, while she wore a hat to match. A reception was held at Mr Williams’ tea-rooms, when a large number of guests attended.
EMMETT—BELL. A quiet but pretty wedding was sol-amused at. the Anglican Church, Levin, on Wednesday, when Mr Robert Em nett, recently returned from the front, and only son of Mr Emmett, of Oanuru, was married to Miss Maud Alii o Bell, second daughter of Mr and Mri; George Bell, of Levin, for many yerrs highly respected residents of Otiki. The bride, who was given away br| her father, was very stylishly att’ied in a nigger brown costume, with hat to match, and was attended by Miss Nellie Bell (sister) as' bridesmaid, who was nicely attired in a pretty grey costume. Both carried lovely bouquets of white chrysanthemums, with streamers to match. Mr Howard Bell, also a returned soldier and brother to the bride, capably carried out the duties of best man, while the Rev. Blackburn was the officiating minister. The bride’s gifts to the bride and bridesmaids were handsome ones, while the young couple were the recipients of many useful, valuable and ornamental presents. Afternoon tea was partaken of at the residence of the bride’s parents, and a most convivial time was spent. The chief item on the tabic was a very line wccldiH£r cake, the top of which was surmounted with a valuable silver vase, containing real flowers.
The happy young couple, both of whom are very popular, were, the recipients of many congratulatory messages, and on leaving by car for Palmerston, where the honeymoon is to be spent, were liberally besprinkled wit-li confetti. Mr and Mrs Emmett will probably take up residence in Masterton. where the former is well known and highly respected.
