SING!
Some interesting data : gathered abroad shows that the practice of singing, merely as a physical exercise, is one of the most healthful in which a person of any age can employ himself. It is asserted by certain authorities that many of the ills which affect humanity arise from faulty, breathing, by which the lungs are put' partially inflated, and, as a consequence, the -poisons which should bo thrown off ; by the breath are absorbed into 'the system, causing all manner of mysterious diseases. -.
One cannot sing without breathing deeply. The muscles of the chest and abdomen must have full play, the body must be erect, and every facility must , be given for the -ingress of air to the Everybody knows the comfortable and stimulating; effect of a longdrawn breath after sitting in a cramped position. This stimulating effect, reproduced by frequent practice in singin"- strengthens the lungs, enlarges the eke'-t and by admitting larger accessions' of oxygen to the dungs, purifies thorn and sends its healing and strengthening streams to every part of the body.
