FARMERS' UNION.
At the Farmers' Union provincial district meeting the election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr &. L. Marshall, Marton; vice-president, Mr AV. B. Matheson, Eketahuna; treasurer, Mr T. Moss, Eketahuna; executive. Sir James Wilson (Bulls). Messrs T. Moss (Eketahuna), G. G. Oliver (Maugaweka), H. Booth (Feilding), E. Law (Shannon), Ewan Campbell and Allan Robinson (AVanganui), John Balsillio and J. A. McLeavcy (Palmersttm North), 11. A, Nevins (Tinui), H, Morrison (Grcytov.-n), C. C. Jackson (Mauriceville), T. Haycock (Marti»borough), H. A. Bunny (Carterton), N. Small, jun. (Pahiatua), with Messrs Hugh Morison (Mastcrton) of the AVairarapa district, and 11. ! ' It was decided to hold the next conference at Feilding. Among the remits passed were tfeo following:— j t*-?4gu To Horo. —That the attention of tke Minister of Finance bo called to the present unsatisfactory matters in connection with Stale and privxl-c moneylending institutions. That wi-err, security is good the State should provide money nt reasonable rates for farmers' needs, and should restore tie table system of mortgage, and provido in every mortgage covenant for payment of sums before due date ivithont, forfeiture of interest. AVuikanae.—That in view of the excellent results from the adoption of preferential voting in Australia, the same system shall without farther tielay be embodied in tho Electoral Eat-/ of New Zealand.
