HOCKEY.
Good sport was witnessed at the hockey tournament held at -Otaki on ."Wednesday, under the auspices of the Otaki Hockey Association. The games throughout were evenly contested and exciting. The .play, generally, was above medium, and many players displayed the best of form.V Following are results of the game, as played:—Otaki A defeated Te Horo, 1-0; ptaki B beat Otaki C, 3-0; Tainui A won from Tainui B, 1-0; Otaki A beat Ptaki B, 1-0, in the semi-final, and then defeated Tainui A, 1-0, in the final. The winning team consisted of Adsett, Batten, Gordon, J. Ayrc, Sathcrley. Messrs Harold Small and Remana officiated as referees, and deserve kudos for the manner in winch they controlled the games. Pwing to the Manawatu Association being unable to secure suitable grounds the .tournament to be held at Palmerston North has been cancelled. An Otaki team will, however, take part in she five-aside tournament to be held at Feilding on June 3rd. It will consist . of Adsett, Batten, Giddens, «T. lAyre, i and Satherley. j
A new hockey club, called the Excelsior club, has been formed at Levin, with Mr Mathcson patron, Mr- S. McKenzio president, and H. Kerslake secretary. The club intends to enter a team for the Otaki sub-association competition. Already thirty members Lave bGen enrolled. '
