THE PROHIBITION POLL.
PINAL RESULTS SOME TIME AHEAD. There has been no further alteration in the licensing poll figures. Two batches of soldiers’ votes, however, will be counted early this week. These arc: Tho Arawa, with about 7.29 men on board, and the Carpentaria, 575 mpn. This will leave three troopships jot to come in: Pupafoa, approximately 600 men; Devon, 22; Rimutaha, 670. The last of these b'oats is due a few days before tho end of the month. There is still outstanding, however, a return of the voting of the soldiers in Samoa—some 200 in all. These votes arc fo bo counted in New Zealand in the same way as transport votes; and as a mail from Samoa is not expected until the second week in June it will bo some timo before the final and authoritative result of the poll can be made known. 1 |
