WAIKANAE NOTES.

WELCOME SOCIAL. A gathering of parishioners b£ the Waikanae Anglican Church, augmented by members of other denomination?, attended in full force on Tuesday afternoon to do honour to the Rev. and Mr* Kendrick, who were recently married. The church schoolroom was prettily decorated for the occasion, while afternoon te-a was served in Waikanac’s best style. The bride wan presented with a very pretty bouquet, composed of chrysanthemums and autumn leaver, while [jink streamers helped to make it even more effective. The bouquet, which was the handiwork of Mrs Tatton Fraser, was banded to Mrs Kendrick by little Miss Liz’betb Banchop, daughter of the late Colonel Bauehop. The gift was gracefully acknowledgedA musical programme, of a very character, was submitted, and the violin solos, especially “The Lest Chord,” by Mrs King, were excellently played, and the performer was greeted with hearty approbation on each of three occasions. Miss Dooley Brown and MLa Olive Hart were in line vokiv o rendered sweetly songs appropriate fbl the occasion, while Miss Eerie Johnston played, in her accomplished style, S’ pretty pianoforte solo, Mbs Gladys Matthew * also ably helped with the musical part of the programme. The usual conversazione added pleaxaciae** to the occasion. The ladle* of Waikanae are deserving of congratulations for the maimer in which they organised the function, which should long be remembexed as a “red letter day” for the district.
