Mrs, Jack Johnson, of P&ekakariki, is. at present seriously ill. Mr G. M. Lethbridge, of Otaki, left yesterday for New Plymouth. He expects to be away for a week or so. ■lt is mentioned as possible that. Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward may hot reach tha Dominion until October.

Mr and Mrs S. Mackenzie, of Te Horo, leave to-morrotr for Rotorua, where they will spend a few weeks’ holiday.

Sergt. “Mick” O’Halloran (M.M.), who recently returned from the front after a long, term of strenuous service, is at present on a visit to Otaki.

According to a cable Private Arthur Oliver, the well-known jockey, left England for the Dominion last Thursday week. Oliver' has lightened up a bit, as ho now turns the scales at 9.0.

The Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, who has been in Italy for nearly six years, is on her way back to New Zealand. She was to have returned here over four years ago, but has been detained owing to the war.

An interesting wedding takes place .at Rikiorangi early next month, when Miss Greig, daughter of Mr and Mrs Grcig, well-known residents, will be married to Private Hughes, a returned soldier. *

Mrs Evans, who lay at death’s door for some weeks at the Otaki Hospital v.-hile the influenza epidemic xaged, is still far from well, dospito a lengthy holiday spent in various parts of tho North Island. Mrs Evans will shortly undergo a couvso of treatment at Rotorua, and it is hoped it will bo beneficial.
