"The autumn show was well supported, especially the children's, sections, and our thanks are due to the teachers for the interest taken in the show. The number of members' tickets disposed of was small, only £2 being derived front this source, which should really be one of the strong points of the society's finance.

"Patrons were generous in their donations to the special prize fund, and our sincere tlurnks are accorded to them for assistance so given. To those ladies who collected donations for this fund, and those who so ably conducted the sweets stall ami tea-rooms, wc tender our sincere thanks for the financial aid which resulted from their labours. "Mr Kobert Bcvan kindly donated a sheep and Mr Minion a bike lamp for competitions, and we thank them for the substantial addition to the funds accruing from their generosity, and also the ladies who so ably conducted the competitions on show day. Wo also lender our thanks to the ladies who enlivened tin! proceedings by rendering musical selections. The only trophy won outright was that preserved by Mr 11. '■A letter was road from Mrs Russell, "Wellington, who had acted as judge .at the last flower show, kindly ottering to visit Otaki and give, a demonstration of the art of decorating. The generous oiler was referred to the incoming committee, and will doubtless be accepted wirli-thanks. , Other Business.' Mr Witchell suggested' that the balance-sheet be printed in the schedules, us had been the custom some little time past. The records were useful for reference and for comparative purposes. The suggestion was referred to the new committee. .._.'- ThCrsceretary suggested that some efforts' be made to secure) a bigger membership of the society. For some reason very few members' tickets were disposed of, and this, he urged, should be the means of providing a considerable amount of ineorne. Mr 11. Small considered that it would be better to dispense altogether, with the sale of members' tickets, and for the society to devote its efforts to selling ordinary admission tickets before each show. If this were done, he believed that a great many tickets would' be sold, and the society's finances be assisted. Mr .Small moved that-the committee be requested to discontinue canvassing for sale of ' members' tickets,, but that they issue ordinary Is admission tickets prior to each show, and push the sale of these. Mr A. W, Broadway seconded the motion. Mr Reynolds staged that the Hutt Horticultural Society had found it .to their advantage to issue admission tickets, and helped their funds considerably by this means. The motion was carried. Thanks. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the -retiring officers, special mention being made of the excellent services rendered by the secretary.
