MANAKAU.

FANCY DRESS BALL. The fancy dress dance (masked) hold at the Mnnakau Hall on Thursday night last, in aid of the improvements to the local tennis courts, was a huge success in every way, and was considered by compstent critics as quite the greatest affair held at Manakuu for

many years. The attendance was very large, including visitors from) many parts of the district, tho management was excellent, and the. function was greatly enjoyed by young and old alike. The stage was very prettily decorated, the floor in capital order, Mrs Bould supplied excellent music, the M ’s.C. (Messrs Mickle and J. Bopata) were most active and efficient, while the supper loft nothing to be desired. ,

Tho fancy costumes were very gay, and a welcome change from ordinary dress, tho majority of - the costume* worn being most picturesque, while many were most original.
