Mr AA r . C. Ecelcton. late of Levin, and a prominent football enthusiast iu tho palmy days of Rugby in tins district, has been elected a member of the Pahiatua Borough Council.
Mr Harold Cockrell, of Otaki, was married to Miss Usher (at one time on tho Otaki Hospital stuff) at I’ukekoke (AA’aikato) yesterday. Hosts of friends of the bride and bridegroom will wish (hem every happiness and prosperity.
Mr D. AY. Matkcson, one ef Levin's most enterprising and capable men, lias been elected Mayor, there being no other nomination. AA r c congratulate Mr Mathieson on liis election, and Levin on having the services of such a capable man.
Mcssr t s 8. AA’. Raplcy (Palmerston North), A, J. Podevin and G. Griffiths (Otaki) have just returned from a visit to Taranaki. They participated in the golf tournament at New Plymouth, and spent ft very pleasant time motoring to Mount Egmont: mountain house and other beauty spots.
A quiet wedding was solmenised at Foxton on Monday, when Mr Sidney Dalzell, of “Brown’s,” Southland, was married to Miss Prouse. The ceretqqpy was performed by the Hey. J. 11. Footballers and others j4j'*ytod in athletics will regret the death of Mr Archibald F. (“Tiny”) McMinn, son of Mr and Mrs Alex. MeMinn, of Auckland. Deceased a-forr years ago was one of the best known' footballers in the North Island, and on one occasion toured Australia with v Now Zealand representative team. Deceased was engaged in newspaper work is Carterton and Danncvirke for some years, but latterly had been in failing health.

An old and respected resident of Shannon, Mr John Mitchell, of East Road, died a few days ago after a. Ur/’ and painful illness. The deceased wa< 61 years of age, and was bora si Karori. He had been living in Shannon for a number of years, daring which time he was a director of the Shannon Dairy Co. He was as elder of th® Presbyterian Church, an active mentfifiof the Farmers’ Union from it? it;j Vtion, and a member of the local Ti /»// club. The deceased gentkvaa.c, who followed farming pursuits in the Shannon district, leaves a widow and four sons.
